About REACH LAW

Built from thirty years
at the front line.

REACH LAW was not designed by technologists observing the legal sector from outside. It was conceived, designed, and brought to market by someone who spent thirty years inside regulated environments watching what happens when governance fails and the named individual carries the consequence.

The origin

I watched an exceptional compliance professional destroyed by a regulatory shift from presence to proof.

For fifteen years I was Head of Business Development and Marketing inside a London law firm. Multiple offices, a regulated environment, a COLP, a COFA, and every compliance pressure that comes with it. I saw the compliance function operate at close range. The judgment calls made under pressure. The decisions taken without adequate infrastructure to record them. The exposure that accumulated quietly until it became a finding.

The shift from SRA presence-based regulation to proof-based enforcement changed everything. Doing the right thing was no longer enough. You had to be able to demonstrate that you had done the right thing, in a form the regulator could inspect. For most firms, that infrastructure did not exist. It still does not.

I spent two years researching AI governance exposure across SRA, FCA and ICO requirements writing to law firms, building frameworks, and documenting what the regulatory direction of travel actually means for the named individuals who carry personal liability. REACH LAW is the answer to that gap. Not built for the regulator. Built for the COLP who sits inside the firm and carries the exposure without the tools to protect themselves.

The Co-Founder

Rifat Sheikh the vision & authority behind REACH LAW.

30+
Years of senior management, strategic, commercial and marketing experience across multiple regulated sectors and industries.
15
Years as Head of Business Development and Marketing inside a regulated London law firm across immigration, litigation, family and conveyancing.
35%
Revenue growth delivered through structured BD and referral programmes built from scratch inside a live regulated environment.
Legal sector expertise
15 years as Head of BD and Marketing at MTG Solicitors, London. Led the full commercial operation of a multi-department regulated law firm. Built every referral network, pitch structure, BD framework and training programme from scratch. Grew firmwide revenue by 35%, increased client retention by 40%, and generated 87% of public sector instructions through systems built from nothing. This is not observed knowledge. This is operational experience from inside a regulated firm.
AI governance research
Two years of active research into how regulated law firms are adopting AI without the controls needed to protect them. Anchored to the SRA AI Warning Notice (January 2026), the Data Use and Access Act 2025, and FCA regulatory transition for AML supervision. Writing to law firms and publishing on LinkedIn every day on what this means for the COLP, the COFA, and the named individuals who carry personal liability when governance fails.
Broader commercial career
Over 30 years of senior management, strategic leadership, marketing and training experience across multiple sectors and industries beyond legal including private sector, public sector, and third sector organisations. The commercial instincts behind REACH LAW are not confined to one sector. They are the product of three decades operating at senior level across a wide range of regulated and commercial environments.
Trainer and educator
D32 qualified Trainer and Assessor. The BD frameworks, referral strategies and commercial habits built inside a law firm are now being brought directly into academic settings teaching the next generation of solicitors what law schools do not: how to win a client, build a referral relationship, and operate commercially from day one of practice. REACH LAW runs alongside this as a live case study of governed AI adoption in a regulated environment.
The technical co-founder

Rizwan Khan the engineering authority behind REACH LAW.

20+
Years of senior hardware and software engineering at some of the most demanding technology organisations in the world.
F1
McLaren Formula 1 engineering environments where zero tolerance for failure is not a policy. It is a physical requirement.
Built
Every technical component of REACH LAW from the governance architecture to the audit layer exists because of Rizwan.
Engineering career
Twenty years at the highest levels of hardware and software engineering. McLaren Formula 1. Sony Ericsson. A succession of elite technology companies operating at the frontier of what engineering can do. Senior roles across environments where precision is non-negotiable, reliability is contractual, and the cost of a failure is immediately and visibly real. That is the standard Rizwan has worked to for two decades. It is the standard he brought to REACH LAW.
What he built
REACH LAW could not have been built without Rizwan. Not a variation of that statement the literal truth. The hybrid governance architecture. The local control plane inside the firm boundary. The cloud reasoning adjunct on sanitised payloads only. The immutable audit ledger. The data boundary system that ensures no identifiable client data crosses the line. The evidence pack builder. The traffic light decision engine. Every technical component that makes REACH LAW function as governance infrastructure rather than a compliance tool exists because of his knowledge, his engineering judgement, and his persistence through problems that had no off-the-shelf answer.
The erudite engineer
Rizwan is not a generalist who picked up compliance as a project. He is a deeply experienced, deeply curious engineer who understood the governance problem at an architectural level from the first conversation and then solved it. The wisdom embedded in REACH LAW's technical design reflects twenty years of working through hard engineering problems in high-stakes environments. That depth is not something you hire. It is something you build over a career.
Why COLPs can trust it
The SRA will not accept governance infrastructure built on guesswork. Regulated law firms will not deploy systems that have not been engineered to the standard the problem demands. Rizwan brings twenty years of building things where failure has real consequences. That experience is embedded in every architectural decision REACH LAW has made. His technical authority is the reason a COLP can stake their professional reputation on what they are deploying.
How we operate

The principles behind every decision we make.

We do not decide what is compliant
REACH LAW records how compliance decisions were made. The COLP retains judgment. We provide the infrastructure that makes that judgment retrievable. This distinction is the entire product.
Deliberate friction qualifies
The Exposure Diagnostic is not designed to convert as many visitors as possible. It is designed to identify COLPs who are genuinely ready to address their governance gap. Friction is a filter, not a conversion problem.
The COLP's liability is the centre of gravity
Every product decision is tested against one question: does this protect the named individual? Not the firm in aggregate. Not the fee earners. The COLP who accepted personal regulatory liability.
We work with the SRA framework
REACH LAW's commercial future depends on regulatory approval pathways. We do not position adversarially against the SRA. We build infrastructure that demonstrates compliance with what the SRA requires.
